The Hayward Powerline PL 81072 filter system is a monobloc unit for above-ground and in-ground pools that integrates pump and sand filter on a single base, with a top-mounted valve to manage filtration and maintenance operations.

Indicative sizing: for pools up to about 40 m³ (40,000 liters), considering a theoretical 4-hour turnover at nominal flow. Suitability must be verified based on pipework, distance, height difference from the pool, and connected equipment, which can reduce actual flow.

This version delivers a nominal flow rate of 10 m³/h and pairs a 0.75 HP pump with a 500 mm diameter filter, with a planned fill of 100 kg of filter sand.

Sand is not included and must be purchased separately.

Sand filtration and pump protection

The 500 mm filter provides a filtration area of 0.20 m². As water passes through the sand bed, suspended debris is trapped before returning to the pool.

The integrated 1.1-liter prefilter catches larger debris. The quick-open transparent lid lets you check the basket and makes routine cleaning easier.

Multiport valve and maintenance

The VARI-FLO™ valve lets you select filter, backwash, rinse, waste, recirculate, and closed, plus the neutral winterizing position.

The pressure gauge allows you to monitor filter pressure. The sight glass lets you observe the water during backwash. Always switch off the pump before changing the valve position.

Materials and water treatment compatibility

The filter uses a high-density blow-molded polyethylene tank. The pump is made of reinforced injection-molded resin, resistant to corrosion.

The unit is compatible with salt chlorination, provided water parameters and usage conditions specified by the manufacturer are respected.

Dimensions, connections and installation

The common base brings pump and filter together in a single assembly. 1½" connections with fittings for 38 mm hoses must be checked against the pool pipework and any required adapters.

For above-ground and in-ground installations, assess the unit’s position relative to the water level and follow the manufacturer’s guidance. Ensure easy access to the valve, prefilter, and tank for maintenance.

Compatibility and flow selection

The Powerline PL 81072 can be used on above-ground and in-ground pools with a compatible hydraulic system. The 10 m³/h version must be sized according to pool volume, turnover time, and circuit characteristics.

A higher nominal flow rate does not automatically make the unit suitable for any pool: pipes, fittings, and connected equipment must be compatible.

The 4-hour turnover is a theoretical sizing reference, not the total daily operating time.
