The Hayward Powerline PL 81071 filter system combines pump and sand filter on a single base, offering a monobloc system for the recirculation and filtration of water in above-ground and in-ground pools.
Indicative sizing: for pools up to around 32 m³ (32,000 liters), based on a theoretical 4-hour turnover at the nominal flow rate. Suitability must be verified according to piping, distance, and height difference relative to the pool and connected equipment, which can reduce the actual flow.
The 81071 version pairs a nominal flow rate of 8 m³/h with a 0.50 HP pump and a 500 mm diameter filter. The tank requires a 100 kg charge of filter sand.
Sand is not included and must be purchased separately.

500 mm filter and pump pre-filter
The filter provides a filtration area of 0.20 m². Water passes through the sand bed, which traps suspended impurities during recirculation.
The pump integrates a 1.1-liter pre-filter to catch larger debris. The quick-open transparent lid allows you to check the basket and access it for periodic cleaning.
Multiport valve and maintenance
The top VARI-FLO™ valve manages the functions of filtration, backwash, rinse, waste, recirculation, and closed. The neutral position is dedicated to winterizing.
The pressure gauge lets you monitor the filter pressure and the sight glass lets you observe the water during backwash. Always switch off the pump before changing the valve position.
Materials and compatibility with water treatment
The tank is made of high-density blow-molded polyethylene, while the pump features a reinforced injection-molded resin body, corrosion-resistant.
The system is compatible with salt chlorination, in accordance with the manufacturer’s guidelines for use and water parameters.
Dimensions, connections, and installation
Pump and filter are mounted on a common base. Connections are 1½" with fittings for 38 mm hoses. Check compatibility with the pool’s plumbing and any required adapters.
In both above-ground and in-ground pools, the unit’s position relative to the water level must comply with the manufacturer’s instructions. Allow sufficient space to access the pre-filter, the valve, and the tank.
Compatibility and flow-rate selection
The Powerline PL 81071 unit can be used on above-ground and in-ground pools with a compatible plumbing system. Choose the flow rate according to the pool volume, desired turnover time, and system characteristics.
The 4-hour turnover is a theoretical sizing reference, not the total daily operating time.
